History

The Following milestones mark Anglian Groups road to national success:

1966
Anglian Windows established.
The first factory unit opened in Norwich.
1969
The first high street showroom opened in Ipswich - a revolutionary idea to encourage the public to view the products personally and discuss their needs.
1970
The Patio Door was added to Anglian's product range.
1973
Residential doors were introduced. Still growing, the Company acquired a 56,000 sq ft site in a converted aircraft hanger on Norwich Airport.
1974
The start of computerisation was marked by the installation of a micro-computer at the airport site.
1976
With increasing work for local authorities. Anglian's Branch and network was not geared to handle the vast orders involved, and so Contracts Division came into being.
1978
PVC-u was added to Anglian`s range of aluminum only products. This new, brilliant white material offers high insulation and maintenance free properties.
1979
Warmaclad (now known as Excaliber) was added to Anglian`s range - a unique combination of aluminium and PVC-u.
1981
The Anglian white finish aluminium range of doors and windows was introduced.
1983
As part of its glass optimisation plans, an automated Sealed Unit plant was opened with a capacity to handle 10,000 sq ft of glass per year. Later expanded to produce 33,000 sealed units per week.
1984
A PVC-u Extrusion plant was commissioned to complete Anglian's vertically integrated manufacturing capability.
1986
The company enters the franchise market with a new company - Stained Glass Overlay (SGO) - creating dramatic visual effects on plain glass or acrylic surfaces.
Anglian Windows now has more than 130 showrooms nationwide and 5 Norwich factories.
1987
Anglian Windows becomes the market leader.
1988
The company embarks on a highly successful 'Customer Care' campaign and starts a major upgrading of its computer network.
1990
Anglian was recommended for registration as a firm of assessed capability to BS5750 Part 2 (Specification for Production and Installation).
1992
Anglian goes public on the Stock Market.
Major investment in Ultra Gas Filling Facility to further enhance the thermal efficiency of products.
Introduction of Royal Knight range.
Introduction of garage door range.
1993
Rooftrim products introduced into range.
1994
Anglian acquires Status Innovations (security). Introducing Anglian Intruder Alarm Systems.
Major investment in revolutionary 'Fastrack' automated window production at the Norwich site.
Living Design (Home Improvements) Ltd acquired to facilitate Anglian's entry into the kitchens market.
1997
Company rebranded as Anglian Home Improvements - Retail Sector.
1999
Major investment in computer hardware and software in readiness for the millenium.
Introduction of the Gold Service.
Introduction of Anglian Direct.
2001
Management buy out. Anglian returned to private ownership.
Third Toughening Plant installed.
2002
Turnover exceeds £300 million per annum.
Firm market leader in Retail, Commercial and New Build markets. Anglian Kitchens range launched.
2003
Garage Conversions product added to portfolio.
2004
Driveways product added to portfolio.
